“An Example”
(1 Timothy 4:11-13) 11 These things command and teach. 12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

My thoughts this morning center around one word; “example”. May I pray that others would want to pray. May my speech be that decent language is my prodigy. May my conduct be so as to draw others to at least think on Christ. May my fervor be that it would excite a young man to desire to be a full time preacher of the Gospel. But, especially, this morning may I be an example to three little girls and their Grandma, that I might be in place in this course of life, that God has so graciously put me on. That they may know that I love them and would do anything in my power to make things better for them. May I always remember and convey to others that Christ first loved me and that I should love others who were in, or are subject to get in the same shape I was in at one time. But, Oh! The day that Jesus passed by, while on His way to someone else, He heard my cry, and reached down farther that I could reach up, and saved my unworthy soul.
I want my precious grandchildren to know that I am determined to follow Christ and that it is not wrong to expect others to do the same. My heart’s desire is to be in a revival spirit that these children may know what old-time revival is all about; what old-time prayer is; what old-time praising is; what old-time repentance is; and what old-time singing is.
May I live the life of an old-time Christian soldier that others would want to join me in this war. A war, not against other people but against the powers of darkness and evil influence. May I walk, worship, and witness with a real smile; with radiance, courtesy, thankfulness, and humility. But may I also approach life and this world with such a holy boldness that the world might say, “Now there is a Christian!” May I never lose sight of the fact, that I can only work out what God has worked in me.
