“Grace To Rest” ~ Dr. Tom Milam

(Matt. 11:28-30) (Ps. 27:14) (1 Pet. 5:10)

1 Peter 5:10  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Rest:  Stop long enough to realize and refocus on the dullness of drudgery, then take the time to sharpen your sureties.  Reward yourself with some real relaxation by setting yourself aside for short seasons.  When judgments become jammed and mediocre tasks become presumptuous meanderings, come apart for awhile before you fall apart.

Go a distance away, in body and mind and concentrate on what is the best that God has for your life, and then be willing to come back refreshed to accomplish one thing at a time, according to priority.
Hunt for harmony while you are away and meditate upon the unity of melody and the unction of the Holy Spirit propagate the tools that are put in your path, then produce from the proportion that God has planted by your own personal wayside and field of service.

Get your soul focus off rest; our lives were not given to us for the purpose of nothing but rest.  But let times of rest be used to revitalize and sharpen our mind and work skills.  Remember, you can produce a larger stack of cut wood if you take a few minutes on occasion, to sharpen the axe.  Or you can continue on beating your brains out and produce only a lot of work without thought or concern.
Then again, if we would just take a little rest to plan our work with God in the lead, and then allow God to work us into the plan that suits us, for the occasion; in others words, just stay in place! STOP! Abide with God or you will run head-long into overwhelming obstacles and never now the pleasures of being a simple laborer.
