“Power to descend”
Mark 9:2
_________________________________________________________
It feels good to be upon the mountain with Jesus, we feel much closer to God; we feel that our sins are farther away than ever before. We feel that we could really fight the devil when we are up there so high. But we must come down, and God knows both sides of the mountain. He not only will lead us up, but back down again. We must come down where the common, everyday things are so God can put some character in us. We must come down to face the everyday storms of life; but with every storm, we have been granted the privilege to rise above them with power and might by the Spirit of God. We are left in the valley most of the time, because we will not likely win them by gathering up on the mountain, it will be down where they live that we will have an impact on their lives.

The inspiration on the mountain will prepare us for the valley. If the only times that we are spiritual are the times when we are upon the mountain, we will be sadly disappointed to have to be made into a useful vessel among the very people the mountain lifted us away from, for those necessary seasons. The mountain experience is another step in preparing us for God’s purpose for us down in the valley.
“Maintaining”
Valley or mountain,
It matters not where,
We still must maintain,
God’s Holy Character.
