"Conviction Brings Repentance" ~ Tom Milam

December 7th ~ "He Leadeth Me" Daily Devotional

"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death."
2 Corinthians 7:10

Thank God for conviction of sin; it brings me closer to God, it also gives me a clearer understanding of God.

The Holy Spirit not only convicts but brings me into the presence of God.  When we sin, it doesn't bother us too much to hide it from men; it only brings us a little remorse but when we try to hide it from God, it endangers our relationship with Him and true conviction grips our hearts.  Conviction will then bring us to ask for forgiveness.  The forgiven person will become a more holy person, because of what God works into a more emptied vessel.  Repentance brings a person to the point of doing opposite of what he was doing - sinning.  When we say in our hearts I have sinned, we know that God is still working on us; We will then turn, in repentance and renew our broken fellowship.

Remorse is the evidence of seeing ourselves, repentance comes when we see ourselves as God see sees us.  Repentance will pour all of our goodness down the drain and give freeway for the Holy Spirit to form us into unconscious holiness.

"Help Me"
God help me to turn away from worry;
To know how to repent,
and to say that I'm sorry.
