Pray for Your Pastor ~ Linda K. Milam

I have been impressed more this week than ever to pray for my pastor.  The messages preached at the "Revival and Church Strengthening Campaign" at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Beckley WV spoke directly to my heart.  The goal was to encourage the saints to lift up the pastor as he leads the congregation in the power of the Lord.  Messages that could be a blessing to any church assembling anywhere in the name of the Lord!  I always “pray” for my pastor, his family, his needs, and his ability to preach the Gospel with power and truth….. but do I really PRAY for him as I should.  I read the following just today and it will forever change the way I pray for my pastor!  Think about it as your read:

“A Christian working for a power company was sent out to a remote place to make a repair for some customers. The place and people struck him odd and he suspected that they were into some kind of witchcraft. In the course of his work he managed to wander around a bit to see what he could see. He found a worship room. There was an altar with a bulletin board above it. Imagine his shock upon examining the board to discover the names of pastors from a fair sized area of Arizona! If you're not praying for your pastor, someone else may be!”
Could there be a room such as this in your community where the worshippers of Satan are “praying” for your pastor.
Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places...18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
2Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

The man of God and His family are a prime target for the devil.  He wants more than anything to see him, fall in some sin to destroy the work of the Lord. If this happens he can reach the congregation easier. But it is my heartfelt belief that with the prayers of saints and God’s mercy he is destined to fail reaching that goal.  God wants us to prosper and grow in knowledge and grace and He is particularly concerned about the men who call themselves preachers and stand in the pulpits of our churches today for the purpose of reaching the lost and uplifting the saints.  Our Bible teaches us in James 5:16 “...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
Guard your pastor and family; bathe them in prayer and lift them up to a Holy God.  Do not fall into believing that “your pastor” would never fall in to sin.  He is flesh living in an ungodly world faced each day, as we all are, with the sin of the world. 1Corinthians 10:12 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

When you think it less likely to happen, it does.  We are seeing good men of God falling in to sin all across America, causing chaos and utter heartbreak in the churches of America and in the Work of the Lord.  Pray For Your Pastor!  As he stands in the pulpit today, bathe him in prayer, beg the Holy Spirit to indwell in him as he preaches the Word, as he goes about his day to day business; pray for him.  Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation
The best thing of all; we reap the benefits of a Spirit Filled pastor.

Pray for Your Pastor and his family!

God Bless,
